The new Poker.ca owner has expressed confidence in Canada’s future as a leader in both poker and the gambling market as a whole. It would seem this is no ideal boast either, as Canada has seen a recent surge in online gambling, as well as the building of several new brick and mortar casinos. With the current nationwide ban crippling poker in the States, the market has picked up and emigrated north.
Poker.ca was recently bought for $400,000, but the owner has opted to remain anonymous for the time being. Their identity may be unknown for the present, but what seems to be fact is that they (whoever they are) are a pro poker player themselves. Given the price of their recent purchase, it can be safely assumed that they must be a player of some degree of success. The new owner’s status within the poker community has given his website instant insider access, along with a host of useful contacts within the world of poker.
The new owner has also expressed faith with Canada a fertile ground on which to cultivate the poker boom. The owner has gone on record to say that Canadians very much love being informed with the most recent news and trends, and so particular emphasis will be paid to the Casino News section. They have also stated that the website’s new facelift will allow for greater ease of access and will be specifically tailored to the key needs of the online player. These will include important info updates, opportunities and deals, as well as news stories which will be refreshed several times daily.
With a new owner who certainly seems to want to listen to the desires of the average player (probably having been one themselves at one point), the future is certainly looking bright for both Poker.ca and Canadian poker as a whole.
It doesn’t matter which games you bet on or where you play, whether it is at home, a Vegas or Canadian casino or the computer, you have to be aware of specific sayings used in a Live Poker game. Here are some examples:
1) Staring at the “flop”- This is a very accepted saying in poker. If a player stares at a flop, it regularly means he has nothing and is taking a while longer to contemplate the potential hands in his mind.
2) Quickly look away from the “flop”- If a player stares at the flop for a second and then immediately looks away, supposedly looking at his chips, it could mean the decision to bet was very easy.
3) Staring at another player – The saying means that the player may be nervous because the second player is about to call him to bet. You must be able to read his eyes or try and detect any other hint of anxiety and by that unsettle his game.
4) Immediately call for a bet – The player attempts to show strength, meaning he may have a weak hand which, in one way or the other, relates to reverse psychology.
5) Seem disappointed – This poker saying determines if it’s the real deal or fake. Disappointment is more common and happens in most cases when playing large pots. The disappointed player can look sad or breathe deeply, as he is holding his breath before round six is on the way.
6) Looks not very sure of himself – This is a sign of strength, which means you’re bluffing.
7) Watching – When a player watches the chips, it normally means he is about to bet.
Noticeable anxiety – This includes the physical display of the player’s anxiety, such as sweat, facial gestures, hands pressing, heavy breath, body posture and more. Canadian players in particular might even display a slight facial twitch that gives away their inner feelings.
Recent drama with online poker rooms have added some new vocabulary to this list, including when Full Tilt Poker was shut down by authorities. Stay tuned for more updates.
